Published: June 26, 2018
Do you have experience and strong skills within embedded software development and in cyber security, and would you like to be part of the fastest growing company in the industry?

At GN Hearing we believe that hearing-aid users will be able to HEAR MORE, DO MORE and BE MORE than they ever thought possible. We develop innovative hearing solutions with great sound quality and excellent design. Our SMART hearing-aid solutions are the most rewarded in the industry and has received more than 60 awards the last few years. Among our latest innovations are ReSound LiNX3D™ and Beltone Trust™, the world’s first full family of hearing aids, with remote fine-tuning capabilities.

Collaborate with the best - right in the sweet-spot of technological innovation
As our new Security Software Developer, you will be part of the Operating Systems department, responsible for developing firmware for all GN Hearing’s hearing aids and accessories. Your focus area will be development of the firmware that runs within the HSM’s (Hardware Security Modules), which are part of our solution infrastructure. HSM’s are used to support products throughout their life-cycle regarding features that require encryption/decryption, authenticity and integrity of data.

To be successful in this role, you have strong interest and perhaps a background in cyber security, and a strong drive to ensure that the firmware developed is designed to cope with any kind of input data. If you are new to cyber security but have a talent for learning and mastering new knowledge areas and a deep interest in cyber security, we encourage you to apply as well.

Besides development and test of HSM firmware, you will also be doing firmware development for the hearing aids, contributing to both new product development, future technologies and platforms.
As a SW developer you will join one of our agile SW development teams following SCRUM development principles, practices and rituals. Our agile teams have typically 6-10 developers working in 2 weeks development iterations. Several agile teams work together in parallel to develop the combined solution. Working with the security aspects of the solution, you play a special role in ensuring that security gets “built-in” and follows best practices.

Participate in all development phases
You are part of all software development phases and you take ownership of the security software domain participating in the ideation, specification and development of this part. A central aspect of your job is to provide innovative and effective solutions within software and assure high quality design and implementation.

We are using a Continuous Integration workflow with e.g. automated builds and tests. You own the unit testing of your software implementation, and in the integration activities you support the debugging and contribute to solving any challenges. Sparring, code refactoring, peer reviews, improvements, knowledge sharing and cross-collaborations are also part of your daily work.

Preferred candidate
We expect that you have most of the following competencies and experience:
• Embedded software development in C
• Software development with specific focus on cyber security
• Design, implementation, simulation, testing, documentation, verification and support of reliable, maintainable, scalable, reusable and efficient software
• Knowledge of security, standard crypto algorithms and hash functions
• Knowledge of HSM (Hardware Security Modules)
• Agile and lean software development
• A Master’s degree in computer science/engineering or equivalent
• Proficient in English, both spoken and written

Your strong desire for making a difference means that you put pride in your work and your contribution to our common goals. It also comes across in your thorough, effective and persistent nature. Moreover, you have a positive can-do-attitude and you value progress, making you self-driven and proactive. You enjoy building good relations with your colleagues, and your innovative, creative and structured approach to problem solving makes you a valued team player.
