GN Audio
Ballerup - Denmark
Published: June 19, 2018
Are you looking to combine your skills in mechanical technology with your sourcing experience?

We are investing in our front-end development and consumer products, and you will help shape our sourcing pipeline to match the market. In this role, you get to use your technical expertise in the early phases of product development and help shape the way we work with sourcing as an integrated part of the R&D process.

Leading technology shifts with intelligent audio solutions

Joining GN Audio at our headquarters in Ballerup, Denmark, you will work on our Jabra solutions. To make life sound better for millions of people, we balance scientific research with expertise across advanced headphones and headsets.
Reporting to our Director of Global Sourcing, you will work alongside 6 highly dedicated commodity managers who are commercially responsible for our portfolio of suppliers. Joining a global team, you can expect to travel internationally 30-50 days a year to visit new and existing suppliers.

Help strengthen our supplier portfolio
As our new commodity manager, you collaborate closely with a colleague to ensure that we have the right suppliers to support new product development. Focusing on sourcing of mechanical technology, you contribute to the R&D process by making sure that our technological developments are feasible and that we have the right suppliers to deliver parts to our final products.
Collaborating closely with R&D, Product Management and Product Design, you represent Global Sourcing in the development process – from early front-end to mature concepts. Our aim is to create a technology pipeline that can feed into our product development, and you will thus contribute equally to the maturation of both technologies and products. With your insights into mechanical technologies, you will enable lower risk and faster-to-market processes for our new development projects as you:
• Develop and maintain our mechanical technology and cost catalogues
• Perform risk mitigation and contingency planning for critical mechanical technology solutions
• Perform should-cost reviews to reduce total product cost without compromising scope or capabilities
• Conduct relevant spend and cost structure analyses as well as market research

Transforming Global Sourcing
In the Global Sourcing team, we are currently on a journey to transform the way we work, playing a more integrated role in the early phases of product and technology development.
”You will join an international team of experts with a range of different disciplines represented. You will be our expert into the more technical details of mechanics and technology solutions. As part of our strategy, we work cross-functionally, and I encourage you to listen to the expertise of your peers while challenging our processes with your insights,” says Mikael Riberholdt, Director, Global Sourcing.

Mechanical expert with sourcing experience and business acumen
To excel in this position, you must be a great communicator who enjoys collaborating with colleagues and partners from different cultures. With an entrepreneurial mindset and strong business acumen, you can hold your own as a technology expert among senior management, communicating your insights and recommendations in a concise and actionable manner. This is underlined by your hands-on technology approach and experience from the mechanics area.
• You have a degree in mechanical engineering combined with 5 - 10 years of experience with mechanical design.
• You preferably have experience from a similar role in a fast-moving consumer electronics industry.
• You have extensive sourcing experience and a healthy understanding of manufacturing processes – including familiarity with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), Should Cost and Design to Manufacturing.
• You have experience working in cross-functional teams in the field between R&D and suppliers, including working with pre-concepting and concepting activities.
• You speak and write English excellently – and Danish language skills are a plus.
